Mona Ibrahim spent a decade and a half servicing clients in the interactive entertainment, video game, and digital media industries as both in-house and outside counsel.

Her commitment to clear drafting is second to none in the interactive media space, and is committed to clear and concise drafting principles. Mona has also provided mentorship and guidance in contract drafting for some of the most talented attorneys in the games industry.

Mona received her J.D. from WVU College of Law and an LL.M. in Entertainment and Media law from Southwestern Law School, located in downtown Los Angeles. She is licensed in Washington State.

In her free time, Mona enjoys travel, her yoga practice, creative writing, candle making, her cats, and of course, video games.

Notable Transactions

  • Cooperated with corporate counsel and took the lead in negotiating the commercial terms for a $1.5 billion investment between Disney and Epic for the production of Disney’s metaverse;

  • Cooperated with corporate counsel to successfully close the Fortnite X LEGO metaverse agreement, and created the metaverse licensing framework to include third party IP in LEGO experiences;

  • Cooperated with the executive team to design Epic’s licensing strategy for the “Open Metaverse”;

  • Developed the legal framework for the creation of Epic’s metaverse licensing strategy for 3rd party brands and IPs, including style transfer (e.g. turning Fortnite outfits into LEGO minifigures) and interoperability with other metaverses;

  • A legal architects for the IP Partner Program, including the Epic x Paramount IP Partner Program deal for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles;

  • Cooperated with the Unreal team to negotiate numerous deals in connection with the Matrix Awakens UE5 demo;

  • Co-drafted the Unreal Editor for Fortnite Supplemental Terms to the Fortnite EULA;

  • Successfully negotiated major strategic partnership agreements for in-licensing across 3 products (Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys);

  • As lead counsel, trained counsel-level attorneys to negotiate high level, complex licenses while also negotiating Fortnite’s major brand agreements (Disney, Paramount, Kodansha, Toei, Warner Bros.)

  • As outside counsel, successfully navigated and closed financing for multiple small and mid-level developer clients (seed rounds and series A) including Pound Sand, Finger Food, Boss Fight, and Tilt Five

  • As outside counsel, cooperated with in-house counsel to develop and ultimately negotiate (across multiple publishers/developers and titles) the funding and licensing structure for Xsolla’s developer fund and payment services;

  • As outside counsel, successfully negotiated M&A deals for Brainz S.A.S., PeopleFun, Surviv.io, Finger Food;

  • As outside counsel, negotiated high level talent agreements on behalf of Square Enix for the Final Fantasy: Kingsglaive feature film;

  • As outside counsel, successfully negotiated development, licensing, publishing and distribution agreements on behalf of a wide variety of media clients, including Annapurna Interactive, Crunchyroll, and Square Enix.
