A Passion for Good People, Good Drafting, and Cool Technology

I have spent sixteen years working in interactive entertainment, video games, and digital media, in-house and as outside counsel.

I care about drafting more than is strictly reasonable. Clear language is what separates an agreement that holds from one that produces a dispute eighteen months later over what everyone thought they meant. I have trained counsel-level attorneys at one of the largest game companies in the world to negotiate complex licenses, and clear drafting is most of what I taught them.

I also build tools. My practice runs on a drafting and review system I built on sixteen years of accumulated templates and clause language, where every clause traces to an approved source, every authority is verified against a primary source, and the system reports a gap rather than filling it. It makes me faster and it makes the work more accurate. It does not make the judgment calls, which is still the part you are hiring.

I received my J.D. from WVU College of Law and an LL.M. in Entertainment and Media Law from Southwestern Law School in downtown Los Angeles. I am licensed in Washington State, and my transactional practice is regularly governed by New York, California, and International law.
